Lens hood tutorial {Temecula Photographer}

I know what you are thinking. Who needs a tutorial on lens hoods? You pop that sucker onto your lens and shoot away. True, yes, that is what you do. But I wanted to demonstrate WHY you need a lens hood when you are shooting in bright light (or in this case I guess we are in the shade but the sun is still very high and keeps sneaking through the trees)

I got a last-minute call to take some pictures of some kiddos going to the Prom this Saturday and left my hood in the car as I was taking pictures until I had the good sense to just go get it. I used my makeshift hood until then (a.k.a my hand) and as I was editing pictures I was noticing how big of a difference it makes just to put your hand up and block the sun from hitting your lens.

Take a look at my example pictures here. The one on top is hazy and desaturated and the contrast stinks. The bottom one, I simply put my left hand up to block the sun while I took the shot and the result is so much better straight out of my camera, which saves me time in Photoshop, which makes me a happy girl.

SO, in conclusion, use your lens hood. It comes with your lens for a reason!

Home Cookin’

Do you know what I love about my garden? The fresh taste of REAL food. I love how vibrantly green my greens are. I love how they have dirt on them when I bring them into the house. And how they sometimes have edges where a bug has gnawed on it. Everything that comes out of my garden is authentic and picked at the peak of freshness and I just know it’s packed with the nutrients me and my family need. I love when my kids eat our garden food. They know what FOOD tastes like.
Tonight we are feasting on the first pick of the season. Spinach and arugula salad. Collard greens. Mmmm…That is home cookin’.

Jack and Kelly {Inland Empire Wedding Photographer- Korakia}

Jack and Kelly had a beautiful little wedding at the Korakia Pensione in Palm Springs 2 weeks ago. I had a pretty short time with them but during that time, could tell they are such a fun and easy-going couple. The ceremony was beautiful and with only family members present, was really intimate, and I loved that. If you want to watch the pictures as a slideshow, click HERE.

Will and Crystal {Temecula, Ca Wedding Photographer}

March 31st I got to second-shoot with my brother-in-law, Dan, the owner of Oak Creek Photography, in Litchfield, Az. Will and Crystal’s wedding was a beautiful outdoor, at-home wedding. Not only were they a blast to work with, but the entire brial party were a fun group. Will and Crystal were rockstars in front of the camera. They made our jobs really easy. And it helps that they are both such good-looking people! Crystal was an absolutely stunning bride.
The highlight of the ceremony was when Crystal was repeating her vows and said “in INfidelity” instead of just “in fidelity”. Needless to say, she brought down the house.
Enjoy the pics! I love how they turned out (watch them as a slideshow HERE).

These love birds…oh, they are too cute. I loved doing this engagement session with them last Saturday. These guys are so light-hearted and just fun. Can’t wait for their wedding in June.
